Travel trends for 2023 – from mindful skiing to wine on the mountain

Insight from Booking.com reveals that a huge 72% of travellers feel more optimistic about travelling next year – but what will be the top travel trends for 2023?

With the new year fast approaching, we take a look at some of the latest travel trends set to make 2023 a year packed full of cultural experiences.

From the wellness trends on everyone’s lips to how to celebrate 20 years of food and wine in the Austrian Alps, here are three ideas for your 2023 list.

20th anniversary of Wein am Berg

With well-known festival organisation EventBrite reporting that people are increasingly expecting and demanding events that more closely match their passions and pursuits, Das Central’s wine on the mountain, Wein am Berg, festival is perfect for those looking for a personalised event suited to foodies, ski enthusiasts and wine lovers.

With the last few ski seasons falling short of expectations, this event is much anticipated.

2023 will be the 20th Anniversary of Wein am Berg, the annual gourmet food and wine festival which takes place in Sölden, Austria and is hosted by the iconic 5-star Das Central Hotel.

The festival celebrates and brings together the finest sommeliers, wine growers and international chefs to the region for a weekend of food and wine tastings high in the Austrian Alps, as well as offering impressive, guided skiing with world champions and former Olympians.

MENtal health and mindful skiing

The health and wellness industry has often been known as a predominately female space, but in recent years and with the help of the millennial mindset, awareness about men’s wellness has increased.

With men being three times more likely to take their own lives than women, it’s no wonder that men’s wellness is a topic that deserves more discussion.

In the past year, the 2021 Mindbody Wellness Index found that during the pandemic 64% of men increased their focus on health and wellness, compared to 56% of women. Could we be seeing a resurgence in the modern man taking back control of their physical and mental wellbeing?

For the men looking to take their mindfulness practice up a notch, Schloss Elmau offers ‘Mindful Skiing’, an elegant way to enjoy the natural environment, with a host of health benefits.

Reports show that 46% of global travellers are more open to wellness breaks than ever before.
